Wheels Through Time to Lead Nation's First July 4th Parade!

Wheels Through Time to Lead Nation's First 4th of July ParadeThis coming Saturday, July 4, the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC will be heading to Gatlinburg, TN to participate in a momentous event celebrating the birth of our great nation over 230 years ago.

For the thirty-fourth year in a row, Gatlinburg will kick off America's Independence Day celebrations with the nation's first 4th of July parade. The festivities, which begin at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 4, and annually draws in excess of 100,000 spectators, will bring the city's streets to life as pre-parade entertainers and over 100 parade entries prepare to show their patriotism in a 1-mile procession down the Galinburg parkway parade route.

The day is fast approaching! On May 14th, 2009 the museum will be hosting one of the nation's longest organized motorcycle rides when the SmokeOut Long Road Ride comes to Wheels Through Time. Both the museum and SmokeOut Long Road staff are expecting a huge turnout, and are encouraging everyone to bring family and friends.

In celebration of The Horse SmokeOut Rally's 10th Anniversary, SmokeOut staff have organized a 2000+ mile ride from Cottonwood, AZ to Rockingham, NC. The ride will begin on Sunday, May 10, and will pick up steam as it makes its way across the United States toward its final destination -- The SmokeOut X at the Farmington Dragway. With pre-designated stops along the way, both registered Long Road riders and those riding along for fun will have a chance to kick back and relax each night before hitting the road for the next leg in the morning.

For the last stop on the Long Road Ride, the SmokeOut staff and Long Road Riders will make their way to Wheels Through Time.

WTT Sets Land Speed Records At The Maxton Mile Print E-mail

WTT Breaks Land Speed Records at The Maxton Mile

This past weekend, the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC, travelled to Maxton, NC for the East Coast Timing Association (ECTA) Land Speed Races to compete in the first east coast speed trials event of the 2009 season. The team, consisting of members from North Carolina, Michigan, and Indiana had unbelievable success over the weekend, coming away with 5 new ECTA-certified land speed records.

During the April run, hundreds of racers and spectators gathered for the two-day event, and were met with blue skies and perfect temperatures for land speed racing. Competitors from near and far brought their best, fielding new and old machines alike, in order to take a chance at making history.

Wheels Through Time Brings 1918 Harley to Presidential Inauguration Print E-mail

Presidential Inauguration Harley SidecarThis past Tuesday, January 20, the Wheels Through Time Museum, Maggie Valley's All-American Transportation Museum and top tourism destination, made its way to Washington, DC for the inauguration of our country's 44th president. The museum, which was invited to participate in the Presidential Inauguration Parade in November of 2008, would attend the parade both in celebration of the swearing-in of our new president and in tribute to the 90th Anniversary of the 1919 Transcontinental Army Convoy on the Lincoln Highway.

Wheels Through Time to Participate in Presidential Inauguration Parade Print E-mail

On January 20, 2009, the Wheels Through Time American Transportation Museum in Maggie Valley, NC will be making history once again -- this time, participating in the 2009 Presidential Inauguration Day Parade. During the historic event, the museum will bring a small fleet of WWI era motorcycles to Washington to participate in a procession celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the transcontinental Army motor convoy on the Lincoln Highway in 1919.

Allen Saum Wins 6th Annual WTT Raffle!!! Print E-mail
On Saturday, November 15, 2008, the Wheels Through Time Museum held its sixth annual raffle drawing in Maggie Valley, NC in front of a cheery, winter afternoon crowd.  Held during the annual Haywood County Toy Run, put on by the local Blue Ridge Thunder Motorcycle Club, this year's drawing saw another great turnout, despite threatening weather throughout the morning.  Over one thousand toy-runners and museum visitors gathered for the 2:00 p.m. drawing, hoping their name would be announced as the lucky winner of a 1940 Harley-Davidson.

Motorcops: A 100 Year Love Affair Between Police And The Motorcycle Print E-mail

MAGGIE VALLEY, NC – The Wheels Through Time American Transportation Museum in Maggie Valley, North Carolina has announced plans to open its final exhibit at its Smoky Mountain location highlighting the history of motorcycle police in America. The museum, which houses the world’s premier collection of rare and historic American motorcycles and unique automobiles, will open the 60-day exhibit, Motorcops: A 100 Year Love Affair Between Police and the Motorcycle, on September 26, 2008.

The Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC will be honoring our nations military by paying tribute to those men and women who have served our country, both past and present. In celebration of our nation’s birthday, the museum will be offering free admission for both veterans and active duty during the entire month of July.
