With the 2011 WTT Annual Motorcycle Raffle just one week away, the museum has announced some great news for whoever will become the new owner of the beautiful 1936 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead on Noveber 12th!
Aside from winning one the most iconic motorcycles every built by HD, the winner will be presented with a special limited edition print by world renowned Harley-Davidson Artist David Uhl. Created specially for the 2011 Wheels Through Time Raffle, this beautiful 30"x22" oil on canvas depicts the venerable 1936 Knucklehead power-plant, which revolutionized the motorcycle industry and is considered the "Grandfather of today's modern motorcycle".
Uhl is considered by many to be the Norman Rockwell of Harley-Davidson, and has created literally dozens of masterpieces helping to tell the story of the glory days of American motorcycling. His attention to detail and life-like creations are unparalleled in the world of motorcycle art, and bring the viewer ever closer to actually living the moment each piece depicts. Uhl's works of art are highly sought after in the artistic community, and often sell out shortly after their release.
In reference to the creation of this beautiful work, Uhl states, "I know, its not really my style, but it was so pretty I just couldn't help myself. I had to give its due."
Over the year's Uhl and Wheels Through Time have worked together in various capacities, and have collaborated on several of his unique works of art, including "Babe" which depicts 1940 Daytona 200 Winner Babe Tancrede unloading his race bike on the beach, and of course, one of Uhl's personal favorites -- Evelyn, depicting a young lady pulled over by a motorcycle officer on her way to a hillclimb.
"We're extremely honored to have David Uhl involved with this year's raffle, and would like to thank him immensely" says museum curator Dale Walksler. "His newly created masterpiece has proven to inspire us yet again, and will make a great addition to this year's Grand Prize!"
